Position: Vice President of Finance
Location: Hybrid, minimum of two days, per calendar month, in J29’s office. This position may require travel to client offices, meeting locations, and other relevant events, as requested.

The Vice President of Finance will serve as a strategic and operational finance leader responsible for financial planning, forecasting, reporting, modeling, and scalable financial infrastructure to support J29’s continued growth. This leader will be hands-on, and partner closely with executive leadership to drive financial performance, enhance visibility into business operations, and support strategic decision making through robust financial analysis and modeling.
This role requires a hands-on finance executive with strong experience in consulting, healthcare services, or government contracting environments and a proven ability to build financial models that support growth, contract pricing, and operational planning. J29’s team of 200+ employees support health and human service missions at the commercial, State, and Federal levels that involve various operational needs to empower our work – including, technology, infrastructure, administratively, financially, and process improvement functions.

Duties:
Strategic Finance & Financial Modeling
  • Lead development of dynamic financial models to support company growth, staffing plans, and new contract opportunities
  • Build scenario-based forecasting models evaluating revenue mix, delivery capacity, and margin performance.
  • Support pricing strategy, bid proposals, and contract profitability modeling.
  • Provide financial analysis for strategic initiatives, service line expansion, and operational improvements,
  • Develop long range financial planning models and multiyear projections.
Financial Operations & Reporting
  • Directly manage the operations and staff involved in J29’s Finance and Accounting functions.
  • Oversee monthly close process and financial reporting, working closely to support J29’s Controller.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking processes for organization, and program specific models.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI) dashboards and operational reporting for leadership
Staff Training & Education – Professional Development
  • Supporting financial, budgeting, and modeling education to non-Finance team leaders and individual contributors across J29. Includes; developing trainings, leading, and question support.
Government Contracting & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, IRS, CAS, and DCAA requirements, leading financial audits that are a result of compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial compliance impact files, modifications, supporting documents, and related reporting.
  • Oversee indirect rate structures and project based financial reporting.
  • Support and lead corporate or contract financial-related audits and required financial submissions.
  • Partner with various business functions, such as Programs & Delivery, Business Operations, People Operations, and J29’s Growth Team to monitor contract margins and delivery costs.
Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in a progressive financial leadership role with a government contractor, including individual candidate responsibility (not direct report delegation) for task completion, task management, and leadership facing responsibilities with demonstrated cradle-to-grave financial operational responsibilities.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated strong financial modeling experience including forecasting, scenario analysis, and pricing models for a government contracting entity
  • Demonstrated expert experience as a financial and accounting user of Deltek’s Costpoint project-based accounting product.
  • Sound judgement, professionalism, communication, presentation ability, and risk evaluation mindset required as a leader of J29.
  • Strong knowledge of CPARS, FAR, SCA, DFARS, agency clauses, contract types (FFP, T&M, CPFF), indirect rate structures, and project accounting.
  • Proficient and demonstrated use of Microsoft Office 365 (O365) applications, such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, PowerApps, Advanced/Expert Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Preferred additional experiences: healthcare experience, executive communication, executive leadership experience, board-facing presentations, client relationship responsibilities, direct reporting exposure.

Education:
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study to business administration, accounting, finance, or economics.
  • Required: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
    • Additional certifications accepted; Certified Management Accountant (CMA),
  • Strongly Preferred: Master of Business Administration (with finance, strategy, or operations concentration), or Master of Science in Finance or Accounting
    • Years of experience may be substituted for the strongly preferred educational desire
Salary: $165,000 - 175,000
